Melodic intonation therapy
Music therapy
Singing simple phrases to help some people with non-fluent aphasia produce words more easily.
What it is
Many people with non-fluent aphasia can sing words they cannot say. Melodic intonation therapy builds on this, using melody and rhythm to support speech.
Who it may suit
A structured option for some non-fluent aphasia.
- Slow, sung phrases with tapping
- Gradual fading of the melody toward normal speech
- Repetition of personally useful phrases
