Hydrotherapy

Aquatic therapy (hydrotherapy)

Using warm water's support and resistance to move more freely and build strength.

What it is

Hydrotherapy is exercise in warm water. Buoyancy supports the body so movement is easier, while the water adds gentle resistance.

Benefits

Especially helpful when land-based movement is hard.

  • Reduced weight on painful or weak limbs
  • Safer practice of standing and stepping
  • Relaxation of tight muscles in warm water
