Working well with your therapy team
Get more from appointments with therapists and doctors - how to prepare, ask, and follow through.
You are the most important member of your rehab team. A little preparation helps you get the most from every appointment.
Before appointments
- Write down your main questions and goals.
- Note changes since last time.
- Bring a list of your medicines.
During appointments
- Ask them to explain anything unclear.
- Take notes or bring someone to help.
- Be honest about what is and isn’t working.
Between appointments
- Follow the home programme consistently.
- Track questions as they come up.
- Note any new symptoms to report.
Build the partnership
- Share your priorities - they shape the plan.
- Ask what to expect and when.
- Speak up if goals need to change.
How this site helps
You don’t have to do everything at once. Pick one small idea from above and try it this week.
- Turn a goal into a daily habit with Practice.
- See the evidence behind these ideas in Research.
- Practise the underlying skill with a calm game.
Remember: this is general education, not medical advice. Your clinician knows your situation best.
